So excited it hurts!

Sharing documents or photos got you down?  Wish you could share a folder but don't want people having access to your entire Dropbox account?  Well you can!
Just make a new folder, input files, right click and select the share with selection.  Once you enter the person's email address (as long as they also have a Dropbox account), you can both access the file and its contents.  Brilliant!

  1. Hi Kelly, I did that with my brother. He kept nagging me for my Grand Canyon photos, all of which were in one folder in DropBox already. I did not have time to sort through the 1,000+ photos, so just shared the folder with him. Of course, first I had to get him to open a Dropbox account, but once he did, it worked like a dream. In EDUC 515, I require all students to set up their own Dropbox shared folder with me. The two of us then use that folder as we go through successive drafts of their research proposal, and it is a blessing not to send email attachments. I love the capacity of Dropbox to share a folder containing specified files meant to be shared. It also an easy way for you to share family photos with a specific individual.

  2. Can you use dropbox from a computer that doesn't have it installed? I know you can access stuff online, but as of right now, all I can do is drop stuff at home and then access it at school. Is there a way to drop at school without having the program installed?

  3. If there is, I would like to know too. I have had to install Dropbox on all the computers I have access too. My district has administrative restrictions so then I have to wait for IT to install it. I have used the sharing feature though, it is very helpful!

    1. I don't think you can use Dropbox unless it is installed on the computer. It is something worth looking into, maybe Judy knows.

  4. My team and I use Dropbox all of the time to store Mimio lessons that the team would like to share/ keep for next year. I have several Dropbox accounts for different purposes and love this tool. But I think you do need it installed on your computer in order to put files into your Dropbox. As far as I know, you should be able to access files already in your account online from anywhere though. And if someone doesn't have or want Dropbox, they can still view your photos or whatever via the online Dropbox.
